Thrifting has always been one of my favorite pastimes. There’s something incredibly satisfying about finding hidden gems in a pile of discarded items. It makes the discoveries all the more satisfying. There have been so many times that I have walked in and out of a store in under 5 minutes because it was a bust!

I honestly can’t remember the last time I went to Target!

Here is a recent quick & easy DIY that I made in under 10 minutes! It started with a thrift store wreath that I bought for $1. It had some Christmas fake snow on some of the branches that I peeled off. Next, I grabbed an assortment of feathers. Feathers are one of my favorite accents to add as the icing on different decorating displays! Affordable too! Now this is so easy! All I did was tuck the feathers in on the left side of the wreath. To display the feather wreath I used a piece of jute string and hung it from a secondhand vintage mirror. I’ve seen metal leaf display bowls on one of the expensive online retailers. I love the look, so I was excited when I spotted this silver one for a few $$$. The silver didn’t go with my decor this Fall so I gave it a quick coat of spray paint (I love the Colorshot brand, the cans are small and comfortable to hold, and the spray nozzle protects your finger from getting covered, plus they are under $5 at Walmart!!) For a pretty Fall look, I added dried Chinese Lantern pods.

For this table display, I decorated it with a Goodwill candlestick holder that I updated with gold spray paint, a yard sale oil painting in a gorgeous vintage wood frame, and a flea market vase that I gave a complete facelift to. Tall branches are an affordable way to fill your vases, you can even clip them from your yard.

One of my favorite vintage finds is an old trunk that I use as a coffee table in my living room. They add a rustic touch to my living room and are perfect for storing extra blankets or pillows. Mixing old and new pieces is a great way to create a unique and personalized home decor style. I like to mix vintage finds with modern pieces to create a balance between old and new. For example, I decorate with lots of vintage pieces in my living room that I paired with a modern sectional sofa. My secondhand pieces add charm and character while the sofa keeps the space looking fresh and updated. Thrifting for Living Room, Kitchen, and Entryway Decor

I love thrifting for unique pieces to add to my living room decor. When shopping for this room, I usually look for vintage lamps, quirky art, and interesting coffee table books. Here are some items to keep an eye out for when thrifting for your living room:

When I was at an antique shop earlier this year I came across these vintage Nepal milk pots. They were unique looking and I thought would look great as a living room accessory. See more about this antiquing and thrifting day on the New England seacoast. My Mom found my end table at a thrift shop near her home, it was an outdated dark stain and pretty banged up. The shape was unique and a little creative painting made it look more modern and stylish.

Entryways are always a fun spot to decorate. It’s a great spot to add your personality to your home. This entryway is decorated almost exclusively with secondhand finds! Can you believe it? By shopping secondhand you can find some great pieces that will give your home a more curated look than shopping for brand new pieces.

Thrifting for kitchen items is one of my favorite things to do. I love finding vintage glassware, colorful plates, and unique serving trays. Plus, thrifting for kitchen items is a great way to save money while still adding some personality to your space. Thrift stores and vintage markets are great places to find serving platters at decent prices. Not only can you use them for food but consider using them for seasonal decorating too. Pretty platters can be filled with pinecones in the Fall or vintage Christmas ornaments at the holidays and displayed on a buffet cabinet.
